We are currently looking for a term, with the potential to become a full time permanent employee, Small Pet Food Line Packaging Worker. This position will be based out of Fredericton, New Brunswick. The rate of pay is $15.00/hour.

Position Summary:

Reporting to the Shift Supervisor, the primary purpose of this position is to ensure that all outgoing product is correctly packaged according to specifications.

Key responsibilities will include:

  • Weigh, seal, label, stack and wrap finished product.
  • Ensure that pallets are free of damage, neatly labeled and stacked.
  • Conduct quality checks on finished product and complete appropriate forms.
  • Maintain a safe & clean work area.
  • Operate all equipment applicable to the work area including but not limited to: Sealers, Scales, Hoist, wrapper, pallet jack, Sample machine, Inkjet Printer, conveyor belts, Label Printer and more…         
  • Troubleshoot equipment when problems arise.
  • Other duties as required.

  Qualifications: Minimum

  • Work independently and quickly to meet changing priorities
  • Training in Forklift Operation
  • Fire extinguisher use
  • Safe lifting techniques
  • Packaging techniques
  • First Aid training
  • WHMIS
  • Health & Safety training
  • Ability to work independently as well as part of a team  
  • The ability to follow instructions / procedures.
  • Ability to perform relevant mathematical calculations
  • Good interpersonal skills.

Working Conditions:

  • Shift Work.
  • Ability to work in very hot/very cold work environments.
  • Dusty environment.
  • Ability to lift up to 25kg repeatedly over a 12 hr. shift.
  • Ability to work overtime

We are currently looking for a Quality Assurance Assistant to work in our Quality Lab & Production Department. This position will be based in Fredericton, New Brunswick.

Position Summary:

Reporting to the Quality Assurance Specialist, the primary purpose of this position is to provide support and ensure all documentation, paperwork, and internal quality assurance is being completed.

Key responsibilities will include:

Internal Quality assurance and control of incoming ingredients and finished product

  • Ensure all internal paperwork is checked, completed and verified. Provide any discrepancies to supervisor.
  • Prepare third party testing samples, including paperwork and check certificate of analysis upon receipt.
  • Conduct Mycotoxins and water activity analysis of incoming ingredients
  • Conduct internal product quality tests per lot as the Corey tech quality program using the Near Infrared Spectroscopy machine, Water activity meter and moisture analyser.
  • Inspect and review any products on hold by production
  • Maintain inventory control system
  • Ensure ingredients are properly received
  • Verify formula costs and restocks are updated on timely basis
  • Maintain product data
  • Reconciliation and analysis of inventory discrepancies
  • Report any stock issues to management

Develop Quality Program

  • Writing and reviewing Corey Nutrition Standard operating procedures (SOPs) and associated forms.
  • Assist in customer enquiry’s by performing the appropriate laboratory tests
  • Record, store and inform management of any bag defect noticed on packaging lines
  • Any other duties as requested by supervisor

Regulatory and Audits

  • Assist in Corey Nutrition compliance with domestic and international regulatory requirements
  • Assist in domestic requirements through compliance with to feed and Pet food Audits with the Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA)

Qualifications: Minimum

  • An aptitude for multi-tasking and working effectively in a dynamically changing environment
  • Exercise attention to detail, take pride in their work, and an aptitude for continuous improvement
  • Experience in a food environment and working on previous quality management programs is considered an asset.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Food Science, Microbiology, or other relevant discipline or equivalent
  • Minimum of 1-2 years’ experience in quality assurance or other relevant experience.

Working Conditions:

  • Ability to stand for periods of time.
